tinydeck

A Stream Deck, without the deck.

A floating grid of buttons that runs whatever you want — shell commands, AppleScript, keystrokes, apps and URLs. Resize it to fill a spare monitor, or shrink it to six keys in the corner. Built for touchscreens, happy with a mouse.

What it does

A grid that fits your screen

Drag any corner and the grid grows with the window — a full wall of keys on a spare display, or a handful tucked into a corner. Keys never shrink below a comfortable 44pt target.

Runs anything

Shell commands, AppleScript, keystrokes sent to the frontmost app, launching an app, or opening a URL. One button, one job, one tap.

👆

Made for touch

Designed for a touchscreen monitor sitting under your main display. Big targets, no hover states, and a panel that never steals keyboard focus when you press a key.

🤖

Let AI write the command

Describe what you want a button to do in plain English and tinydeck drafts the script. Bring your own key — OpenAI, Anthropic, or a local model through Ollama.

🧪

Test before you trust

Run a button from the editor and see its real output, exit status and errors. If it fails, ask AI to read the failure and hand back a fix you can apply in one click.

Rearrange by dragging

Flip into edit mode and drag keys around the grid to swap them. Everything is saved automatically, so the layout you build is the layout you get back.

🪟

Floats and snaps

Stays above your other windows without appearing in the window switcher, and snaps to screen edges so it lands exactly where you meant to put it.

🎨

Color or green

A dark panel with full-color keys, or a single-color phosphor-green mode for when you want it to disappear into the desk.

🪶

Barely there

Native Swift and SwiftUI. One process, no helper daemons, no background services, and no measurable impact on battery life.

Privacy

tinydeck collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your buttons and scripts stay in a file on your Mac. The optional AI features only talk to the provider whose key you entered — and if you use Ollama, nothing leaves the machine at all. Read the full privacy policy.
